Research peptide reconstitution guide

Review the vial label, product-specific instructions, and the applicable research protocol before beginning.

1

Let the sealed peptide vial warm gradually

If the peptide vial was refrigerated or frozen, leave it sealed until it no longer feels cold. This helps limit condensation inside the vial.

2

Expose and clean the vial stoppers

Remove the plastic cap from the peptide vial. If the diluent is supplied in a vial, remove its plastic cap as well. Leave each rubber stopper and metal ring in place. Clean the rubber stopper on the peptide vial and, when applicable, the rubber stopper on the diluent vial with separate fresh alcohol pads. Let both surfaces air-dry and do not touch them afterward.

3

Measure the full diluent volume

Use the sterile transfer method required by the research protocol to measure the complete diluent volume. Recheck the volume before adding it to the peptide vial.

4

Add the diluent down the inside wall

Direct the liquid toward the inside glass wall rather than onto the dry peptide. A sealed peptide vial may be under vacuum and begin drawing the liquid in on its own. Keep the transfer controlled, do not force the liquid into the vial, and allow it to run slowly down the wall.

5

Let the peptide dissolve gently

Gently swirl or roll the vial so the liquid moves over the dry material. Do not shake it. Allow time for the material to dissolve. If there is unexpected cloudiness, discoloration, visible particulate matter, or material that does not dissolve, stop and review the product-specific instructions.

6

Store the reconstituted peptide correctly

Keep the mixed vial refrigerated at 2–8°C unless its storage instructions specify another condition. Protect it from light and avoid leaving it at room temperature longer than necessary. Freeze it only when the peptide and diluent are known to tolerate freezing, and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. See the Research Peptide Fridge and Freezer Guide for the full storage reference. For optional recordkeeping, note the date prepared, diluent used, volume added, and final concentration.
